creative workshop session

MOVE ME #1 happened on Sunday 24th September 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at Whittington Park Community Centre (Holloway, North London).

18 participants took part, a lovely varied group of people, various in age and ethnicity, some of whom knew each other and some of whom didn’t.

We said before the session:

This is the first MOVE ME session and each one will be unique and have its own special character.  The form will change and develop as we do more sessions.  I am lucky to be working with Ahoora Baranian on this one. Participating means not just receiving but also giving, helping shape future sessions.

This is what people who attended told us:

I’d encourage people to take part, more particularly those who wish to experiment with their bodies, spaces and feelings/thoughts in group.

You offered a very rich experience, and I felt your careful guidance throughout. I enjoyed the exploration, and the openness that you invited.

It was a lovely group of people you brought together. I was intrigued by the discussion emerging on touch too.

Here is my haiku that your work inspired in me:

Feel the resistance

The feet firmly on the ground

Child stands knowing no

All in all, it was a unique experience for me and I’ve been thinking about all these since yesterday – which is great.

Love and unity of being

I am not as dispersed as I thought I was … or we thought we were

The body knows the way forward in movement and in stillness and the answer can be found but it may be unpredictable

Fluidity inside my body as if there was a flow between all my organs, all my limbs …and the borders of my body were not solid, not fixed…

they too were fluid

and the fluidity inside my body was also flowing to the outside – to the people close to me, to the space around us in the room and to the space outside the windows – to the trees and the sky…

I strongly felt all these things and it wasn’t till later that I could articulate this.
